Therapy for Adults

Effective therapy starts with a genuine, human relationship

It’s common to feel uncertain about starting therapy. Many adults think they “should be able to handle it on their own,” or carry a quiet belief that by now they should have already figured things out. Sometimes we hold ourselves to an internal timeline that doesn’t account for loss, trauma, neurodivergence, or how much life can ask of us. Life isn’t linear. Seeking support often means you’re tuning into what you need now. For many, that can feel like an act of defiance. It can be a way of reclaiming our power, not losing it.

My sense is that we are “fellow travelers” on the path. As a therapist, I hope to empower and embolden you. I love to see my clients pushing back against expectations set by the dominant, neurotypical culture. I love to see my clients give themselves permission to do accommodate themselves.

My clients are are at all different stages of life.

  • Some are adjusting to the transition out of high school or college.

  • Some are figuring out how to work a job without constant burnout.

  • Others are parents who are trying to do things differently than their parents and often navigating how to balance their needs with their neurodivergent partner and/or children.

  • Other are exploring how to live a more authentic life through gender-affirming changes.

  • And all-the-while many are facing the challenges of childhood experiences and trauma that left deep wounds.

My Specialities and Approaches

Neurodiversity-affirming therapy

Late-diagnosed neurodivergent therapist checking in! I take a flexible and accommodating approach for each unique individual and welcome your “neurospicy” self (e.g. autistic, ADHD, AuDH, PDA, dyslexic, etc.). Learn more about neurodivergent-affirming therapy here.

Trauma recovery & EMDR

I am here to support you as you do this challenging and transformative work. I am EMDR Certified and integrate Internal Family Systems (“parts work”), attachment therapy, and somatic-informed approaches. Learn more about EMDR and trauma healing therapy here.

Relationship challenges

Interpersonal and attachment challenges come up for all of us at one point or another. These difficulties are painful and frustrating. We all get “stuck” sometimes. Often there are wounds that need to be addressed before we are ready to let go of old patterns and try something new.

LGBTQIA+ affirming

I am here to support you wherever you may be in your process. I also work with parents and partners who are supporting a loved one’s exploration or transition. I continue to grow my knowledge and skills and work to connect with other affirming providers and resources.

Parental coaching

I provide parental coaching for parents of neurodivergent children (of any age) who are looking for a therapist who understands that traditional parenting approaches do not support all children. I have deep respect for hard your job is as you learn about your child’s needs (and often your own needs too).

Emotion regulation

Problems with emotion regulation often lead to “fear of feelings.” Your feelings are not the enemy. “Regulated” also doesn’t always equal calm. Our feelings are useful information and often point to unexpressed needs. I approach this work with curiosity and unconditional acceptance.

It’s normal to be nervous. Rest assured, sessions will not be graded!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can help if you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to manage emotions, relationships, or life changes. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit. Many people come to therapy wanting more clarity, confidence, and self-understanding.

What happens in therapy?

Therapy is a space to slow down, explore your experiences, and make connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Sessions may involve processing past experiences, learning new coping strategies, and experimenting with ways to respond differently in relationships or challenging situations.

Do you focus on specific issues?

Yes. I work with adults on a range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. I also specialize in neurodivergent-affirming care and support for LGBTQ+ clients.

How long does therapy take?

Therapy is individualized—some people see noticeable progress in a few months, while others work on deeper patterns over longer periods. We set goals collaboratively and adjust the pace to what feels safe and effective for you.

Do you provide EMDR therapy?

Yes. I am trained in EMDR, an evidence-based approach for processing trauma and reducing distress from past experiences. EMDR is often integrated with other approaches, like Internal Family Systems and attachment-focused work, depending on your needs.

Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?

I offer both in-person and virtual sessions for adults. In-person sessions are ideal for deep trauma work, while virtual sessions provide flexibility and accessibility for ongoing support.

Will you tell others what I share in therapy?

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. I only share information with others if there is a legal requirement (for example, safety concerns) or with your consent. This creates a safe space for honest exploration.

What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?

Feeling nervous is completely normal. I meet adults where they are, creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment to build trust, explore concerns, and take steps toward growth at your pace. I won’t throw you into the deep end.

What if I’m neurodivergent or LGBTQ+?

I provide affirming care for neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ adults. Therapy is tailored to your experiences and nervous system, focusing on understanding patterns rather than trying to “fix” you.

How do I get started?

You can reach out to schedule a consultation or session. We’ll talk about your goals, answer your questions, and make a plan that feels safe and effective for you.
